国家地理自然生态纪录片《昆虫战役 Insect Wars》人类文明有六千余年，但是在这六千余年中，绝对和平的时间只有200多年，其余的时间人类都在忙于战争。但是战争并不是人类的专利。昆虫，特别是群居性，社会性的昆虫，为了生活区域，为了食物，经常会爆发远比人类更惨烈的战争。国家地理频道为我们讲述昆虫的战争。
非洲南部的丛林里住着一群白蚁，牠们正在辛勤工作，利用腹部的细菌把木材溶化成液体食物。另一族类的蚁群派出探子，亦到处找寻猎物果腹。探子侦察到白蚁所在，回营向总部报告。总部派出600名精兵，直捣白蚁基地。虽然白蚁的数目比牠们多出超过六倍，蚁军队靠着其庞大的体形和有力的口部，总共掳掠了4000只白蚁，并把牠们带回巢穴作食物。这只是《虫虫战记》里的其中一场战役。
利用二维和三维的动画技术，以及精细的微形摄影科技，我们一同缩小来到昆虫世界，看看牠们的特种部队如何利用最先进的化学武器，以及精良的作战技巧，与其他族类周旋。昆虫对人类而言看似十分脆弱，但你会发现在牠们的微形世界里，牠们正令用造物者赋予的本领有智慧地生活着。
