IMAX纪录片《蓝色星球 Blue Planet》通过在外太空的宇航员从飞行器上观测地球所拍摄的珍贵画面，记录了地球上的自然变化、地理地貌和大气层内发生的各种现象……让人吃惊的是从外太空看到的地球与我们的想象相关甚远，让我们随着摄像镜头一同感受神奇、瑰丽的地球村吧。
《蓝色星球》是一部关于地球的太空电影，从美国航天飞机绕地球飞行的轨道上遥看地球上蜿蜒曲折的陆地，地球显得亘古而又变化剧烈。在太阳系乃至整个宇宙中，地球显得细致优雅而又脆弱!地球是如何开始的?他又如何变化?在这些变化中人类充当着怎样的角色?《蓝色星球》将用电影胶片从海洋、陆地和太空中，用艺术级的计算机模拟显示和从地球同步轨道卫星得到的最新数据探索着这些问题。从而让我们对我们唯一的家园——地球有一个新的认识。
本片在史密森学会的国家空间博物馆和洛克希德公司与美国国家航空航天局暨太空总署的合作协助下，由IMAX空间技术部的格莱梅?费格森制作，托妮?米耶斯编剧及解说，本?贝尔特执导，IMAX有限公司发行。
