PBS自然纪录片《内陆鹈鹕 Outback Pelicans》主要是探究鹈鹕的神秘行动，它们大规模迁徙到澳大利亚内陆——地球上最热最干燥的大陆上面的区域。
常年的暴雨，干燥的河床充满了河水并流入内陆，形成了沙漠炎热的中心地带的绿洲。放弃了海洋，鹈鹕们离开了他们的海岸之家，跨越一千多公里来到了艾尔湖边，以这里富饶的鱼群和丰年虾为食。这个湖的富饶为他们的族群提供了一个舒适的栖息之地，尽管处于地球上最不受欢迎地带的中心位置。但是，更多关于他们生活和迁徙之旅仍然是个谜，等待着研究者们去慢慢发掘。
