纪录片《番茄的胜利 Triumph of the Tomato》是央视纪录频道与奥地利国家广播公司(ORF)联合摄制的项目，该片跨越欧亚大陆拍摄，追溯番茄的历史和在现代社会的巨大价值，探寻番茄如何进入东方并在中国的多种应用，既有知识性，又富于趣味性。
埃里克•什特科维奇在位于奥地利东部布尔根兰建立了一座番茄种植王国，这里是番茄爱好者的国际交流中心。这里的名人客户名单中有知名厨师阿兰•韦斯盖博，英国摇滚明星兼园艺爱好者乔伊•库克，还有对番茄专家使用非传统种植方法非常着迷的卡塔尔国王。埃里克•什特科维研究了番茄与众不同的内部活动，他发现这种诱人的果实在其芳香诱惑中使用了800种不同的物质。
番茄的故事开始于500年前，普通的番茄从南美洲运送到欧洲。在西班牙强烈的阳光照射下，这种外来的植物变成了烹饪美味，它让欧洲的社会名流为之着迷。也是同样的原因，西伯利亚铁路途中的旅客对其爱不释手。
